El 16 de septiembre de 1955 se lleva a cabo un golpe de Estado en Argentina de la mano de una sublevación cívico-militar que derrocó al gobierno constitucional encabezado por el presidente Juan Domingo Perón y estableció una dictadura cívico-militar encabezada por el general Eduardo Lonardi que se autodenominó Revolución Libertadora.
La Revolución Fusiladora duró de 1955 hasta 1958, años en los cuales murieron al menos 156 personas.
