En los últimos tiempos, Aquino fue autor y una de las voces cantantes del proyecto para suspender las Primarias en el Chaco, lo que finalmente se concretó. También mantuvo airadas discusiones con un sector de los empleados del Poder Legislativo de Trabajadores Legislativos Autoconvocados que reclamaban un incremento salarial que fue aprobado y luego vetado por el gobernador Domingo Peppo.
