Villa Berthet es una localidad ubicada en el sudoeste de la provincia del Chaco, cabecera del departamento San Lorenzo. Se la apoda el “Diamante chaqueño” por la gran cantidad de fábricas que fueron parte del desarrollo del pueblo.
En 1926, Fernando Cutiellos recibe la concesión fiscal del Lote 14, cuyos productos se vendían a la «Cía. La Francia Argentina”.
Asimismo, esta adquiere de «La Forestal» 6 hectáreas de terreno en el Lote 4 para la instalación de una playa maderera con depósito, y acuerda construir una vía férrea desde la «Estación de Haumonia» hasta la playa maderera.
Es así que el 8 de junio de 1927 sale el primer tren con maderas de estas playas y los trabajadores de este obraje construyen sus viviendas a su alrededor: estos serían los cimientos de la futura localidad, cuya primera Comisión de Fomento data el 13 de noviembre de 1931.
Sus principales vías de acceso son las rutas provinciales 4 y 6, la primera la comunica al sur con Samuhú y al norte con Quitilipi, mientras que la segunda la enlaza al oeste con San Bernardo y Las Breñas, y al este con Haumonia.
