El 20 de septiembre de 2015 Domingo Peppo fue elegido gobernador de la provincia del Chaco con el 55,43% de los votos, encabezando la lista del Frente Chaco Merece Más, junto al ex-Intendente de la localidad de Campo Largo, Daniel Capitanich, sucediendo de esta manera a Jorge Milton Capitanich, quien, a su vez, junto en la fórmula con Juan Carlos Bacileff Ivanoff, ganaba en 2007 la gobernación ante Ángel Rozas.
El Frente Chaco Merece Más se proclamó triunfador en las elecciones provinciales de 2015 reteniendo el gobierno de la provincia con la fórmula Domingo Peppo-Daniel Capitanich y ganó la intendencia de Resistencia con el triunfo de Jorge Capitanich.
Peppo triunfó con 55,28% de los votos contra 42,41% de Vamos Chaco que encabezó Aída Ayala.
“El pueblo del Chaco ha dado una lección de democracia”, aseveró en aquel momento el gobernador electo, y afirmó que “el proyecto nacional y popular sigue vigente en el Chaco”.
Por otro lado, después de 16 años de liderazgo radical en Resistencia, en aquel momento a cargo de Aída Ayala, el actual gobernador Jorge Capitanich ganaba la disputa por la intendencia a Leandro Zdero, del frente Vamos Chaco.
